A dismembered body was found over the Memorial holiday in a New York apartment. It has been directly linked to the previous murder of a woman who was choked to death and then thrown into a river.
Police entered the Manhattan home of Jerry Pollard after being tipped off by a member of the public who said a murder had been comitted. Unbeknownst to the officers at the time, as they entered the apartment two hands wrapped in plastic bags landed on the lawn. This little helped the offenders because once inside the police discovered a human hand.
The victim has been identified as 49 year old Jerry Pollard. His severed head was found under the kitchen sink, wrapped in a plastic bag. Police believed it had previously been kept in the fridge. The bathtub in the apartment was full of bloody water and a hacksaw was found at the scene. Further investigations delivered the victim's torso and legs in a nearby garbage dump.
Twenty year old Bernard Perez and 21 year old Rahman Willaims have been charged with the murder. Perez has also been charged with the murder of Pollard's neighbor, Doris Drakeford. Ms Drakeford was choked and thrown in the river.
Apparently both Pollard and Drakeford were killed for the same reason: their apartments. Perez and Rahman killed and dismembered so they could live in their victim's apartments. According to police they targeted these particular victims because they believed them to be drug abusers whom no one would miss.
