Created in 1981, the program operates as an administrative unit within the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.

FUNDING
The program receives 50% of fees of $68 and $46 assessed against felons (depending on severity of offense); $10 per misdemeanor; and $5 on infractions of municipal or county ordinances. The program receives an annual VOCA grant.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Reporting period: 48 hours
Filing period: 2 years
Exceptions: child victims have up to 2 years from their 18th birthday within which to file
Minimum loss: $50
Deductible: $50, unless applicant is 65 or older
PROCEDURES
Working with program staff, the program manager makes a final review and decision on each application. Appeals: The applicant has 30 days to ask for a hearing, which is held before an administrative law judge. A further appeal may be taken before the Labor and Industrial Commission. Finally, the applicant may appeal within the court system.

Maximum award: $15,000

Lost wages/support: $200 per week

Travel: to obtain medical assistance
Attorney fees: may take out of the award no more than 15% or $100 per hour, whichever is least Missouri
