Detectives hunting the killer of a young woman whose severed upper torso was found floating in the Thames in London are to search the river again for the rest of her body.
On Sunday 17th December 2000 the upper torso of a female was recovered from the Thames at Battersea. She was later identified as 24-year-old Zoe Louise Parker.
Zoe, was also known as Cathy Dennis and came from the Hounslow area of south-west London, but it is thought she had links with people in the West End and Charing Cross areas of the city.
It was originally believed that the body had been cut in two by a boat propeller, but an autopsy has shown some kind of sharp weapon was used.
Zoe led a very gregarious life. She never stayed in one place for any length of time. She had been in and out of foster homes and state care facilities from an early age and suffered learning disabilities.
Those who knew her described her as lonely and somewhat naive and gullible and someone who sought affection and approval throughout her life. She is known to have worked as a prostitute.
According to police she could have been in the water for between one and three weeks and could have gone in anywhere between Teddington and the Thames Estuary.
Officers will be trying to gather more information from homeless people in the Charing Cross area of central London from 6.30am today. Police are also interested in hearing from anyone who has rented out accommodation or provided bed and breakfast and might have let rooms some time ago and not visited them for a while.
Also, police would like to speak to anyone who has knowledge of a dark rucksack or holdall that Zoe might have had in her possession.
Official contact numbers and photographs can be found in the 'Wanted' Section.
