menocchio,
“Thieves” is a pretty broad category, many types and functional subtypes, many levels of sophistication, etc. but motive, method and opportunity still applies. I’m not sure what level of experiment you are interested in (educational level, resources, time constraints, etc.). Who (types of thieves, types of victims), What (types of thefts, from shoplifting to scams to identity theft to plagiarism, even rape considered as the theft of sex), When (time variables), Where (location of crimes and origins of criminals), and How (method/opportunity) data should be available through the internet, perhaps the Department of Justice. Frequency variables (e.g., lifestyle or atypical for the individual), intensity variables (e.g., level of force and violence), and duration (e.g., age of onset) measures may be of interest. Perhaps a profile of the types of thieves in a local jail/prison based on public records, recidivism rates for different types of thieves, or even structured interviews with incarcerated thieves, coordinated by prison staff.
The following are links to free downloads, which may stimulate some ideas related to thieves. The first link is to a PowerPoint presentation which gives a general introduction to the BRACE Character Profile and its relationship to the various prototypical types, such as the personality disorders detailed in DSM-IV-TR. I suggest viewing the show and reading the note pages, particularly for Antisocial Personality Disorder. The other two files are in PDF format, one detailing the cognitive-behavioral-existential characteristics of the population of criminals as defined by DSM-IV-TR (Antisocial Personality Disorder). The other presents a series variables of interest to Law Enforcement, each described for the three archetypes of character (Type A, Type B, and Type C), which together make up basic human nature.

Hope this is helpful.

in principle, is for the school (1'rst years on university of psychology)
the request from school are simple : they want just to see if we can do a correct psychological experiments, but i don't want just that...i want to make an real and good experiments, not just for a good indicatives

all the subjects are on probation service, and all have charge of shoplifting, and just a few of home breaker.

i thing to make a "little story" and the subject to complete some asspects of that, i "wish" to reveal the perception of the"present" or maybe the aspects like self-estime and other cause that make them to become offenders. The result i will compare with their on probation files from the moment of actting and with the result from the people what never have done somthing like that.
<at this point is my problem ... > i don't find some psychology tests wicth will represent the "framework/skeleton" of the story.
i don't know if is right from the psychologycal perspective.
Until now, i just thing to use "in the story" some caracter and the subject to chose the path of action (that i wish to measure the "perspective" about life of the subject - i don't have any idee of some thest for this ) and to describe how the caracter is dress...(i based this evaluotion on he color test)

menocchio,
If you have time for a longer type study, at least two or three months, I would suggest taking a look at the BRACE Work Adjustment Profile, which can be used to measure functioning in various vocational/correctional/community contexts. Use it to predict the level of adjustment that those entering probation actually achieve. There is a related free manual with an example and free program for baseline, ongoing assessment, exit evaluations, etc. at my website ... in the Client Area.
This profiling device is designed for a wide range of active treatment programs, to assess and measure progress/regression on an ongoing basis. There are examples in the manual. You can find my website through my profile on this site.
